Με τα ποδήλατά τους εθελοντές μιας συλλογικότητας στη Θεσσαλονίκη μοιράζουν φαγητό σε άστεγους της πόλης. Τις νύχτες, μέλη της συλλογικότητας Room 39, του Κοινωνικού Κέντρου/Στέγη Μεταναστών, τριγυρνούν με τα ποδήλατά τους στο κέντρο της Θεσσαλονίκης και μοιράζουν μερίδες φαγητού σε άστεγους που εντοπίζουν.

“Προμηθευόμαστε μαγειρεμένο φαγητό και αρτοσκευάσματα από διάφορα εστιατόρια και φούρνους που στηρίζουν την προσπάθειά μας και τα διανέμουμε σε ανθρώπους που έχουμε εντοπίσει ότι βρίσκουν προσωρινό καταφύγιο σε διάφορα σημεία” λέει στο ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ ο Χρήστος Γεωργιάδης, εθελοντής της συλλογικότητας, προσθέτοντας ότι μοιράζουν καθημερινά περίπου 30 μερίδες φαγητού.

Βέβαια, όπως διαπιστώνει, οι περισσότερο άστεγοι προμηθεύονται με κάποιο γεύμα είτε από την εκκλησία είτε από διάφορες άλλες συλλογικότητες ή απλούς πολίτες. “Η ανάγκη για φαγητό δεν είναι τόσο μεγάλη όσο η στέγαση αφού οι υπάρχουσες δομές στη Θεσσαλονίκη είναι πλήρεις και δεν επαρκούν να καλύψουν τις ανάγκες”.

Παράλληλα, στην έδρα του Κοινωνικού Κέντρου/Στέγη Μεταναστών (Ερμού 23) κάθε Σάββατο και Κυριακή μεσημέρι διοργανώνεται κουζίνα αλληλεγγύης όπου προσφέρεται δωρεάν γεύμα σε αναξιοπαθούντες. Επιπλέον, οι εθελοντές του Room 39 δραστηριοποιούνται και στην Ειδομένη με τη συλλογή και διανομή τροφίμων, ειδών πρώτης ανάγκης και ρούχων σε πρόσφυγες

Όσο γιατί βαφτίστηκε με αυτό το όνομα η συλλογικότητα, ο Χρήστος Γεωργιάδης εξηγεί: “Το Κοινωνικό Κέντρο στεγάζεται στο κτίριο που λειτουργούσε παλαιότερα ως ξενοδοχείο και στο οποίο είχε μείνει μάλιστα και ο Γρηγόρης Λαμπράκης πριν τη δολοφονία του. Σε εμάς λοιπόν έχει παραχωρηθεί ένας χώρος που ήταν παλαιότερα το δωμάτιο 39 και έτσι αποφασίσαμε να “βγούμε” μ΄αυτό το όνομα”.
