Όταν κάποιος προσπαθεί να χάσει βάρος ή να το διατηρήσει σταθερό, προσέχει πολύ την ποιότητα των τροφών που καταναλώνει, να είναι υγιεινές, να μην είναι «φορτωμένες» με πολλά λιπαρά ή σάκχαρα.

«Οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι δεν ξέρουν ποιο είναι το μέγεθος μιας ‘κανονικής μερίδας’», λέει εκπρόσωπος του Βρετανικού Συνδέσμου Διαιτολόγων στη Daily Mail. «Ακόμα και οι υγιεινές τροφές έχουν θερμίδες, μπορεί κάποιος να κάνει σωστή επιλογή φαγητού αλλά να τρώει περισσότερο από όσο πρέπει».

Έρευνα του 2013 από το Βρετανικό Ίδρυμα Καρδιάς κατέγραψε το πόσο έχουν αλλάξει οι μερίδες την τελευταία 20ετία και τα αποτελέσματα είναι αν μη τι άλλο εντυπωσιακά: έτοιμα γεύματα όπως τα λαζάνια έχουν αυξηθεί σε ποσότητα έως και κατά 50% ενώ πολλά μπισκότα είναι κατά 17% μεγαλύτερα. Οπότε αν κάποιος τρώει ένα μπισκότο σήμερα, προσθέτει στο σώμα του 3.330 θερμίδες το χρόνο σε σχέση με την ίδια κατανάλωση το 1993!

Την ίδια ώρα «μεγαλώνουν» πιάτα και ποτήρια.
